TDK Launches B3271xP Series DC Link Film Capacitors Rated Up to +125°C for xEV and Industrial Power Electronics

TDK Corporation  announced the B3271xP series of DC link film capacitors developed for demanding automotive and industrial power electronics applications. The series features a maximum operating temperature of +125 °C, with no power derating required up to +105 °C. This allows stable capacitance and reliable energy buffering in high-temperature environments with continuous ripple loads, including tightly packed inverter designs. The capacitors are intended for use in xEV traction inverters, onboard chargers, DC-DC converters, frequency converters, high-end industrial power supplies, and solar inverters.

The B3271xP series employs a polypropylene (MKP) dielectric that provides low losses, high ripple current capability, and excellent self-healing properties to support efficiency and system lifetime under electrical stress.

Capacitance values range from 0.47 µF to 110 µF, with rated DC voltages spanning 600 V to 1200 V. The components are housed in a flame-retardant plastic case with epoxy sealing compliant with UL 94 V-0. Lead spacings are available at 27.5 mm, 37.5 mm, and 52.5 mm, with 2-pin configurations standard and 4-pin versions offered on request to enable mechanical stability and low-inductance layouts.

Typical ESR values reach the single...
