TDK Launches AXO315T1 High-Temperature MEMS Accelerometer for Measurement While Drilling up to +175°C
TDK Corporation has expanded its MEMS inertial sensors portfolio with the introduction of the Tronics AXO315T1, a high-temperature digital MEMS accelerometer designed for energy market applications. The AXO315T1 features a ±14 g input range and operates across a temperature range of -30 °C to +175 °C. It includes a digital interface and is intended for measurement while drilling (MWD) applications. The device follows the earlier Tronics AXO315T0, released in June 2025, which was qualified for oil and gas use at temperatures up to +150 °C.
The sensor uses TDK’s closed-loop architecture, which provides a 10x improvement in vibration rectification error compared to traditional open-loop MEMS accelerometers. It serves as a cost-effective, low-SWaP (Size, Weight, and Power) digital alternative to quartz accelerometers for inclination measurement in directional drilling tools exposed to high temperatures and vibration.
The AXO315T1 has a specified powered lifetime exceeding 1000 hours at +175 °C. TDK states that this capability supports the development of a new generation of MWD tools to address accuracy and productivity needs in complex and unconventional drilling operations.
Key performance specifications include:
Bias residual error over the temperature range: 1.7 mg
Vibration rejection: 20 μg/g²
