Qualcomm Announces Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 Mobile Platform with Oryon CPU and Enhanced On-Device AI

Qualcomm Technologies, introduced the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 Mobile Platform, positioned as a premium-tier offering that expands flagship-level performance and features to a broader range of premium smartphones.

The platform includes:

A custom Qualcomm Oryon CPU with peak clock speeds up to 3.8 GHz, delivering 36% higher performance and 76% improved web browsing responsiveness compared to the previous generation.
Qualcomm Adreno GPU with sliced architecture, providing 11% higher graphics and gaming performance.
Qualcomm Hexagon NPU with up to 46% improved performance.
Qualcomm Sensing Hub that combines microphone and sensor data to enable wake-on-intent for AI assistants by detecting when the user picks up the device.
Support for agentic AI assistants with context-aware, on-device processing through the Qualcomm AI Engine.
