Edge AI Industrial PCs: Qualcomm Dragonwing IQ-X Series Launches with Oryon CPU and 45 TOPS NPU

Qualcomm  announced the Dragonwing IQ-X Series industrial-grade processors for PLCs, advanced HMIs, edge controllers, panel PCs, and box PCs. The series uses the Qualcomm Oryon CPU on 4nm process technology with configurations from 8 to 12 high-performance cores and up to 45 TOPS of AI performance. It operates in temperatures from -40°C to 105°C in a ruggedized package with extensive peripheral support.

The IQ-X Series supports Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC, COM module form-factors for drop-in replacement on existing carrier boards, and an evaluation kit. Software compatibility includes Qt, CODESYS, EtherCAT, Qualcomm AI Software Stack, ONNX, and PyTorch. AI applications cover predictive maintenance, condition-based monitoring, and defect detection.

Nakul Duggal, Group General Manager, Automotive and Industrial & Embedded IoT at Qualcomm , stated that the Dragonwing IQ-X Series brings the Oryon CPU’s single and multithread performance to industrial PCs for smarter factories and faster edge controllers, while reducing complexity and time to market for OEMs and ODMs.

OEMs adopting the platform include Advantech, congatec, NEXCOM, Portwell, Inc., Tria, and SECO. Commercial devices are expected in the coming months.
