Silicon Labs Launches Simplicity Ecosystem for IoT Development with AI SDK Planned for 2026
Silicon Labs announced the Simplicity Ecosystem, a suite of modular software tools for embedded IoT development, anchored by Simplicity Studio 6 and including the Simplicity AI SDK framework with AI augmentation set for release in 2026.
The ecosystem unifies installation, configuration, debugging, and analysis in a single environment. It supports Silicon Labs Series 2 and Series 3 devices and IoT standards such as Bluetooth LE, Zigbee, Thread, Matter, Wi-Fi, Wi-SUN, and Z-Wave.
Core tools consist of:
- Simplicity Installer: A package manager for on-demand installation of SDKs, examples, and tools.
- VS Code and CLI Integration: Simplicity Studio 6 uses VS Code as its primary IDE with an extension, and generates CMake & Ninja build environments for CLI automations across toolchains.
- Device Manager: Interface for identifying, managing, and programming hardware, including firmware flashing, serial communication, and board detection.
- Simplicity Commander: Command-line tool for programming, debugging, and security configuration, supporting erase, flash, and query operations for CI/CD and production.
- Network Analyzer: Tool for tracing wireless traffic in Bluetooth LE, Zigbee, Thread, and Matter networks, with real-time packet visibility and performance diagnostics.
- Energy Profiler: Tool for correlating energy consumption to code exec...
