At electronica India 2025, Power Integrations, a power semiconductor manufacturer, presented a range of power supply design solutions tailored for India’s electrical environment. Andrew Smith, Director of Technical Outreach and Training at Power Integrations, delivered a detailed overview of the company’s switch technology and its applications, focusing on their suitability for India’s variable power grid. The presentation included technical specifications for four power supply designs, each utilizing Power Integrations’ proprietary PowiGaN technology.
Smith highlighted the company’s expertise in integrating switch technology into their products, which supports a voltage range of 750 V to 1700 V. This range enables reliable performance in systems with 480 V AC inputs or those experiencing line swells and high voltages, common in India’s power infrastructure. The company incorporates silicon, gallium nitride (GaN), and silicon carbide (SiC) in its devices, with GaN and SiC improving efficiency since their adoption around 2018. By integrating GaN switches into the circuit of the integrated circuit, Power Integrations allows engineers to utilize this technology without specialized knowledge or changes to their design processes.
