Vishay Launches Class 1 Ceramic Disc Capacitors with Low DC Bias and Dissipation Factor for High-Voltage Applications

Vishay announced the introduction of its HVCC Class 1 series of radial-leaded high voltage single layer ceramic disc capacitors, designed for industrial and medical applications. The capacitors offer a capacitance loss of less than 25% at 15 kV, half that of Class 2 devices, and a dissipation factor (DF) of less than 1.0% at 1 kHz, which is 0.5% lower than Class 2 counterparts. These characteristics reduce power losses and enhance reliability in high voltage generators used in baggage scanners, medical and industrial X-ray systems, air purifiers, ionizers, and pulsed lasers.

The HVCC Class 1 series features a capacitance range of 100 pF to 1 nF with standard tolerances of ±10%, voltages of 15 kVDC, and an operating temperature range of -30 °C to +85 °C. The capacitors consist of a silver-plated ceramic disc with tinned copper-clad steel connection leads available in 0.65 mm and 0.80 mm diameters. They are offered with straight leads at spacing of 9.5 mm and 12.5 mm and are encapsulated in flame-resistant epoxy resin compliant with UL 94 V-0. The devices are RoHS-compliant.

Samples and production quantities of the HVCC Class 1 series are available now, with lead times of 12 weeks. More information is available ...
