TDK Launches Compact B3270xP PFC Capacitors for Consumer Electronics Power Supplies

TDK Corporation has introduced the B3270xP series of metallized polypropylene (MKP) film capacitors for power factor correction (PFC) in consumer electronics power supplies, including adapters for laptops and gaming consoles. The series features a compact design with self-healing properties to meet the demand for space-efficient solutions in high-density circuit designs.

Available in three lead spacing variants—10 mm (B32701P), 15 mm (B32702P), and 22.5 mm (B32703P)—the capacitors offer rated DC voltages of 450 V, capacitance values from 0.47 µF to 2.2 µF, and an ESR of 10 mΩ to 25 mΩ at 100 kHz. They operate up to a +110°C case temperature, with voltage derating above +85°C, and have a service life of 50,000 hours at rated voltage and +85°C. The dissipation factor is up to 1.0 ∙ 10⁻³ at 1 kHz. TDK provides LTspice models for the series.

The capacitors include parallel wire leads, with halogen-free options available upon request, and comply with RoHS standards. Their plastic housing and epoxy resin sealing meet UL 94 V-0 standards for flame retardance and durability. They are available in bulk, ammo pack, or reel configurations.
