Littelfuse Introduces Compact DFNAK3 Series TVS Diode with 3 kA Surge Protection for High-Density Electronics

Littelfuse announced the launch of the DFNAK3 Series of High-Power TVS Diodes, designed for surge protection in DC-powered systems and Power over Ethernet (PoE) applications. These surface-mount diodes provide a 3 kA (8/20 µs) surge current rating in a compact DFN package, which is 70% smaller in footprint and height compared to traditional overcoated or standard SMD-type coated packages.

The DFNAK3 Series meets IEC 61000-4-5 Level 4 requirements and offers lower clamping voltage than standard TVS diodes, MOVs, and GDTs, providing transient suppression for sensitive electronics. The series is designed for high-density PCB designs, supporting applications such as DC bus protection for Small Cells, Remote Radio Units (RRUs), Baseband Units (BBUs), PoE systems, AI infrastructure, data center servers, and industrial DC power supplies in harsh environments.

Jenny Chen, Product Marketing Manager, Protection at Littelfuse, stated that the DFNAK3 Series supports miniaturization in high-density system designs while maintaining surge performance for applications like PoE, remote radio units, and data center power supplies. The surface-mount configuration facilitates automated PCB assembly, reducing production complexity.
