TDK Introduces Compact, High-Temperature Axial Capacitors for Automotive Powertrains

TDK Corporation has launched the B41699 and B41799 series of aluminum electrolytic capacitors, designed for automotive applications with operating temperatures up to +140°C. These ultra-compact capacitors, featuring axial-lead (B41699) and soldering star (B41799) designs, support high capacitance and ripple current in a space-saving format, suitable for powertrain modules like electric power steering, fan control, and transmission systems.

Available in rated voltages of 25 V and 35 V, the capacitors offer capacitance values from 1800 µF to 13,000 µF and handle ripple currents up to 34.6 A at 10 kHz and +125°C case temperature. They feature low equivalent series resistance (ESR), over 4000 hours of useful life at +125°C under rated conditions, and vibration stability up to 60 g (optional). These characteristics address thermal stress, mechanical vibration, and compact integration needs in 12-V board net xEV platforms.

The capacitors support flexible mounting for horizontal, vertical, or busbar configurations, with dimensions ranging from 16 x 25 mm to 21 x 49 mm (diameter x height). Their SIKOREL-based construction ensures a storage life of up to 15 years at +35°C, with compliance to RoHS and AEC-Q200 standards.
