Qualcomm Debuts Dragonwing Q-6690 with Integrated UHF RFID for Retail, Logistics, and Manufacturing

Qualcomm announced the Dragonwing Q-6690, the first enterprise mobile processor with fully integrated ultra-high frequency (UHF) RFID capabilities. The processor, built on 4nm technology, includes 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, and ultra-wideband connectivity, supporting a range of devices from rugged handhelds to retail point-of-sale systems and smart kiosks. It targets industries such as retail, smart buildings, smart cities, supply chain, logistics, consumer appliances, and healthcare, with a product longevity date of 2034.

The integrated UHF RFID reader eliminates the need for external modules, enabling smaller, more efficient device designs for applications like access control, asset tracking, inventory management, and product authentication. The processor supports software-configurable feature packs, allowing OEMs to customize computing power, multimedia, camera, and peripheral configurations, with over-the-air updates to extend product lifecycles and reduce certification costs.
