iMotion Leverages Renesas R-Car V4H for Automated Parking Innovation in 2025
Motion Automotive Technology highlighted its use of Renesas’ R-Car V4H technology to advance automated parking systems, addressing the common driver challenge of parking in tight or poorly marked spaces. Founded in 2016 by Walt Song, iMotion aims to integrate advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) features, typically found in luxury vehicles, into mid-range and entry-level models. The company, listed on Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index in 2023, operates from its headquarters in Suzhou, with an R&D center in Germany, a manufacturing plant in Malaysia, and commercial deployments across Asia and Europe.
iMotion’s automated parking assist (APA) system enables vehicles to self-park in under 30 seconds, using cameras and ultrasonic sensors for real-time environmental detection. The system guides vehicles along learned routes up to 3km and works across electric and gasoline vehicles, including passenger cars, commercial trucks, and off-road equipment. The iMotion iDC500 domain controller integrates APA with surround-view perception and a Trained Commuting Pilot (TCP) feature, which uses self-mapping technology to navigate familiar routes. The Bird’s Eye View (BEV) technology, powered by an AI Transformer model, creates a 3D map of the vehicle’s surroundings using camera data.
