ROHM Unveils Compact PFC + Flyback Power Supply Reference Design with LogiCoA Technology

ROHM has introduced the REF67004, a new reference design that integrates Critical Conduction Mode Power Factor Correction (PFC) and Quasi-Resonant Flyback converters, controlled by a single LogiCoA MCU. This design is part of ROHM’s LogiCoA Power Supply Solution, which combines analog-digital hybrid control technology, utilizing ROHM’s silicon MOSFETs, gate driver ICs, and a low-power LogiCoA MCU.

The REF67004 boosts AC input through a PFC converter and delivers a regulated 24V DC output via a Quasi-Resonant Flyback converter. It includes a calibration function to adjust for variations in external components, enabling precise voltage configuration and overcurrent protection. This reduces design margins, allowing the use of compact, low-power components and inductors, which minimizes PCB area and system costs. The design also features a logging function, storing operational data such as input/output voltage, current, temperature, pre-shutdown status, and cumulative operating time in the MCU’s non-volatile memory for failure analysis. Parameters and operational history can be configured and retrieved via UART using sample programs, including the RMOS power control OS, available on ROHM’s website.
