TDK Unveils Ultra-Low Voltage TVS Diodes for High-Speed Consumer Electronics Interfaces
TDK Corporation has introduced three new models in its SD0201 series of ultra-low clamping voltage TVS diodes, designed for high-speed interfaces in consumer electronics. The diodes provide protection for USB Type-C, HDMI, DisplayPort, and Thunderbolt connections in devices such as smartphones, laptops, tablets, wearables, and networking equipment.
Each diode is housed in a 0201 chip-scale package (0.58 x 0.28 x 0.15 mm), suitable for space-constrained designs. The models offer working voltages of ±1 V, ±2 V, and ±3.6 V, protecting circuits from electrostatic discharge (ESD) and transient surges. They comply with IEC 61000-4-2 standards, with ESD robustness up to ±15 kV and surge current handling up to 7 A, depending on the variant. The symmetrical design supports bidirectional protection and flexible PCB routing, with low leakage currents and dynamic resistance as low as 0.16 Ω.
The models include: SD0201SL-S1-ULC101 (B74121U1036M060) with a ±3.6 V working voltage and 0.65 pF capacitance; SD0201-S2-ULC105 (B74121U1020M060) with ±2 V and 0.7 pF; and SD0201SL-S1-ULC104 (B74121U2010M060) with ±1 V and 0.15 pF. An LTspice model library for SEED simulations is available for download.
