Littelfuse Unveils TMR Angle Sensors for High-Precision Applications in Industrial and Automotive Sectors

Littelfuse has introduced two new Tunneling Magnetoresistance (TMR)-based magnetic angle sensors, the LF53466 and LF53464, designed for 0–360° angular measurement in harsh environments. These sensors, utilizing a dual push-pull Wheatstone bridge configuration with four high-sensitivity elements, enable accurate angle detection along X and Y axes. They offer improved thermal stability, wide supply voltage compatibility, and enhanced precision compared to Hall-effect devices.

The LF53466, packaged in a TSSOP8, provides angle sensing with an error below 0.8° in magnetic fields of 200–800 Gs. It suits industrial and automotive applications, such as steering wheel angle sensors, pedal position sensors, and contactless potentiometers, due to its robust solder joints and ease of inspection.

The LF53464, housed in a compact LGA8L package, achieves an angle error below 0.6° and supports wider airgap capability with smaller, cost-effective magnets. It is designed for space-constrained applications, including rotary encoders, knob and valve position sensing, and consumer devices like power tools and appliances.

Key features include 0–360° angle measurement, high magnetic sensitivity via TMR technology, low angle error, excellent thermal dr...
