Broadcom Launches Jericho4 Ethernet Fabric Router for Scalable AI Data Center Connectivity

Broadcom Inc., a semiconductor and infrastructure software provider, has begun shipping the Jericho4 ethernet fabric router, designed for distributed AI infrastructure. The platform supports interconnecting over one million XPUs across multiple data centers, addressing the scaling needs of AI models that exceed single data center power and space limitations.

Jericho4 scales to 36,000 HyperPorts, each operating at 3.2 Tb/s, with deep buffering, line-rate MACsec encryption, and RoCE transport over distances exceeding 100km. The 3.2T HyperPort technology combines four 800GE links into a single logical port, improving utilization by up to 70% and reducing load balancing inefficiencies. The router’s deep buffering and congestion control enable lossless RoCE for distributed AI infrastructure.

Manufactured on a 3nm process, Jericho4 incorporates 200G PAM4 SerDes, eliminating the need for retimers to reduce power consumption and costs while maintaining system reliability. It supports MACsec encryption on all ports at full speed, ensuring secure data transfer across data centers without performance loss.

The router complies with Ultra Ethernet Consortium (UEC) specifications, ensuring interoperability with UEC-compliant NICs, switches, and software stacks. Combined with Broadcom’s Tomahawk 6 and Tomahawk Ultra, Jericho4 completes a networking portfoli...
