New Micro Encoders from Bourns Deliver Compact Position Sensing for Consumer Electronics

Bourns has introduced the PEC04 Series 4 mm Incremental Micro Encoder, PEC05 Series 5 mm Incremental Micro Encoder, and Model PEC06 6 mm Incremental Micro Encoder. These devices provide position and speed data for control functions in various electronic applications.

The PEC04 Series targets compact consumer electronics, such as micro headphones and smart wearable devices. The PEC05 Series is suited for mouse wheels, smart home appliances, and smart wearables, while the Model PEC06 is designed for smart home appliances and desk lamps, supporting reliable performance in next-generation devices.

All three micro encoders feature an IP40 dust rating, with rotational cycle ratings of 30k for PEC04, 50k for PEC05, and 20k for PEC06. They operate within a temperature range of -20 °C to +70 °C and offer a 2-bit quadrature code output with a 360-degree continuous mechanical angle. Their compact, surface-mount design suits space-constrained applications.

The PEC04, PEC05 Series, and Model PEC06 are available through Bourns’ authorized distributors and comply with RoHS Directive 2015/863. For more information, visit bourns.com/products/encoders/contacting-encoders.
