Emerson Integrates AI into Test and Measurement Software with Nigel AI Advisor

Emerson, an industrial technology company specializing in automation solutions, has introduced Nigel AI Advisor into its flagship test software, marking its initial step in embedding AI technology into its test and measurement portfolio. The Nigel AI Advisor, built on advanced large language models and trained to understand NI software, aims to streamline workflows for engineers in industries such as semiconductor, transportation, and electronics by addressing the growing complexity of test and measurement tasks.

The AI tool is integrated into NI LabVIEW and NI TestStand, components of Emerson’s NI LabVIEW+ Suite, which includes software for automating measurements, analysis, and tests. Nigel enables engineers to use plain language prompts to receive detailed recommendations for code optimization and test execution, enhancing productivity while maintaining control over the test environment. The system operates on a secure cloud platform to protect user data.

Announced at the NI Connect conference, Nigel AI Advisor is the first release in Emerson’s broader initiative to incorporate AI across its test and measurement software portfolio.
