Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. has introduced the XRCGB_F_C series, a compact crystal unit in 2016 size designed for in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) and automotive applications, including Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). Mass production of the product is underway.

IVI systems, which deliver information and entertainment through in-vehicle IT devices, typically use larger 3225-size crystal units. The increasing demand for enhanced functionality in electronic systems, driven by ADAS integration, has created a need for smaller, high-precision components. Additionally, advancing communication standards in vehicles have intensified wireless traffic, requiring precise signal transmission timing to ensure accurate synchronization between in-vehicle device ICs. This synchronization prevents communication errors by generating stable clock signals.
The XRCGB_F_C series addresses these needs with a 2016-size design, reducing implementation space by approximately 60% compared to the 3225 size. This compact size supports device downsizing while maintaining enhanced functionality. The product, developed using Murata’s proprietary packaging techniques and optimized design and processes, offers high precision and strong resistance to cracking during soldering. It operates reliably at temperatures up to 105°C and features a low failure rate due to its particle-less design. The crystal unit is lead-free and supported by a stable supply chain.
Murata aims to expand the use of these reliable, high-performance crystal units to enhance safety and reliability in automotive applications. Further details and model comparisons are available on the product pages for the XRCGB_F_C series.
