Renesas Introduces RA2T1 MCUs for AI-Enhanced Single-Motor Control in Power Tools and Appliances
Renesas Electronics has launched the RA2T1 microcontroller (MCU) group, based on the 64 MHz Arm Cortex-M23 processor, designed for single-motor applications such as fans, power tools, vacuum cleaners, refrigerators, printers, and hair dryers. The RA2T1 MCUs feature a peripheral set tailored for motor control, supporting Brushless DC (BLDC) motor systems.
The RA2T1 group includes a 3-channel Sample and Hold (S&H) function for simultaneous detection of 3-phase current values in BLDC motors, enabling precise control compared to sequential measurement methods. It also provides complementary Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) with automatic dead-time insertion and asymmetric PWM generation for inverter drive applications. Safety features include a Port Output Enable function and a high-speed comparator for rapid PWM shutdown upon overcurrent detection, with configurable shutdown states based on inverter specifications.

Key specifications include 64KB Flash, 8KB SRAM, 2KB Data Flash, a 12-bit ADC with 3-channel S&H, a temperature sensor, internal reference voltage, 2-channel high-speed comparators, and multiple on-chip oscillators. The MCUs support high-, mid-, and low-speed clock outputs, power-on reset, voltage detection, data t...
