TDK Corporation has launched a new multilayer ceramic capacitor (MLCC) in its C series, offering a capacitance of 1 μF at 100 V in the 1608 case size (1.6 x 0.8 x 0.8 mm). This product, with X7R temperature characteristics, provides the highest capacitance for a 100-V-rated MLCC in this size for commercial applications, as reported by TDK in June 2025. Mass production began in June 2025.
The MLCC addresses the rising demand for 100 V-rated capacitors in 48-V systems, used in AI servers, energy storage systems, and various industrial equipment to enhance system efficiency and reduce power loss. By achieving ten times the capacitance of conventional MLCCs of the same size through optimized material selection and design, the product enables a reduction in the number of components and mounting area, supporting miniaturization in electronic devices.
The C1608X7R2A105K080AC is designed for use as input capacitors for power supply ICs in commercial and industrial 48-V systems. Key specifications include outer dimensions of 1.6 x 0.8 x 0.8 mm, X7R temperature characteristics, a rated voltage of 100 V, and a capacitance of 1 μF. TDK plans to expand its MLCC lineup to meet further customer needs.
