Epson announces development of collaborative robot for laboratory automation
Seiko Epson is developing a collaborative robot solution set for launch in 2025, targeting industries such as manufacturing, logistics, life sciences, and pharmaceuticals. Initial sales will begin in Japan and Europe, with a phased rollout to other regions planned.

The robot, designed with a 6kg payload capacity and a 900mm arm length, weighs 17kg and features a compact, lightweight design suitable for laboratory transport and production line integration. Its space-saving form allows easy relocation and adaptation to changing operational layouts. The robot includes a compact controller (W 440 x D 205 x H 135 mm, under 6kg) designed for integration with mobile robots like automated guided vehicles (AGVs) and autonomous mobile robots (AMRs).
Compliant with ISO 14644-1 Class 5 cleanroom standards and IP54 protection against dust and water, the robot’s smooth chassis minimizes dust accumulation to reduce contamination risks. It supports power sources from 100 to 230 VAC and 48VDC, ensuring compatibility across various environments. The robot also supports Python programming, enabling flexible customization for R&D and system integration without requiring specialized programming knowledge.
