Littelfuse launches KSC PF series tactile switches with potting-friendly design
Littelfuse announced the KSC PF Series sealed tactile switches for surface-mount technology (SMT) at its facility in Rosemont, Illinois. These momentary action switches, measuring 6.2 x 6.2 x 5.2 mm, are IP67-rated for protection against water and dust and feature an extended cage design to facilitate potting, a process that encapsulates PCB-mounted components in resin to shield against moisture, dust, vibration, and corrosive elements.
The KSC PF Series is designed for applications in high-end consumer, aerospace, automotive, medical, and industrial markets. The switches are rated for up to 1 million cycles with a maximum power handling of 1 VA at 32 VDC. They offer a soft actuator with tactile feedback, compatibility with SMT automated assembly, and availability in Gullwing or J-bend termination options. The extended cage allows deeper resin coverage during potting, ensuring stable performance, proper alignment, and protection for the switch and adjacent PCB components.
The design addresses limitations of standard flat cage switches, which restrict resin depth and compromise protection. The KSC PF Series supports thicker resin layers, improving tolerance and simplifying production for outdoor and mission-critical environments like e-mobility, industrial automation, and outdoor electronics.
The switches are available in tape and reel format in quantities of 1,400 t...
