Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. announced that its AC03-CS series of axial cemented, leaded wirewound safety resistors is now available with a WSZ lead form, enabling use as surface-mount components to reduce assembly time and costs.

The AC03-CS series serves as inrush current limiting resistors during normal operation and functions as pre-charge, discharge, and snubber resistors in automotive electronics, energy meters, and power supplies for industrial drives and consumer appliances. The resistors handle high DC voltage overloads or accidental AC mains voltage of 120 VRMS or 240 VRMS, ensuring safe and silent fusing.
The resistors operate from -40 °C to +200 °C and feature a non-flammable silicone cement coating compliant with UL 94 V-0 to minimize fire risk without requiring additional fuses. They are AEC-Q200 qualified, with a surge voltage capability up to 4 kV (1.2/50 µs pulse per IEC 61000-4-5) and a 3 W power rating at 40 °C. The series offers resistance from 1 Ω to 100 Ω, with a ± 5 % tolerance and a temperature coefficient of ± 200 ppm/K. The resistors are RoHS-compliant, halogen-free, and feature tin-plated terminations compatible with lead-free and lead-containing soldering processes.
Samples and production quantities of the AC03-CS series with WSZ lead forms are available, with lead times of 12 weeks. For more information, visit www.vishay.com.
