Qorvo introduces power doubler amplifiers for DOCSIS 4.0 upgrades
Qorvo, a provider of connectivity and power solutions, has announced two hybrid power doubler amplifiers, QPA3311 and QPA3316, for its DOCSIS 4.0 portfolio targeting broadband cable networks. These amplifiers are designed for downstream operations up to 1.8 GHz and support Unified DOCSIS and smart amplifier architectures in hybrid fiber-coax (HFC) systems.
The QPA3311 and QPA3316 provide higher total composite power and improved signal integrity, reducing the need for cascade stages and booster amplifiers, which lowers infrastructure costs. Bob Simmers, senior marketing manager for Qorvo’s Infrastructure business, stated that the amplifiers support intelligent and adaptive HFC deployments, aligning with DOCSIS 4.0 requirements and network efficiency needs.
The amplifiers, built using Qorvo’s GaN25 process, are manufactured in Nuremberg, Germany, and offer different output profiles to meet various node and amplifier deployment requirements. Both devices are in production and will be showcased at ANGA COM 2025, held June 3-4 in Cologne, Germany.
