Universal Robots unveils UR15 Cobot at Automate Show in Detroit
Universal Robots (UR) introduced its latest collaborative robot, the UR15, at the Automate Show in Detroit today. The UR15, now available for orders with shipping set to begin in June, has a maximum TCP speed of 5 m/s and is designed for high-speed operations across various applications and industries.
The UR15 offers a payload capacity of 15 kg (33 lbs), which can be increased to 17.5 kg (38.58 lbs) for wrist-down applications like palletizing. It features a lightweight design and small footprint, allowing integration into tight workspaces. For pick-and-place tasks, the UR15 achieves up to 30% cycle time improvements compared to other UR models. It incorporates OptiMove, UR’s new motion control technology, which enhances trajectory smoothness and accuracy in high-speed and high-payload scenarios.
The cobot operates on both PolyScope 5 and PolyScope X software platforms and is compatible with the UR AI Accelerator, a toolkit developed with NVIDIA using NVIDIA Isaac’s CUDA-accelerated libraries and models, running on the NVIDIA Jetson AGX Orin system-on-module. At the Automate Show, 3D Infotech demonstrated a quality inspection process using the UR15 and UR AI Accelerator.
