Valeo has announced the co-development of an Axial Flux Generator. This innovative system, launched at Auto Shanghai 2025, represents a significant advancement in compact, lightweight, and high-efficiency electric powertrain design.

Figure: Compact, powerful, and efficient: Valeo Axial Flux 2-in-1 generator delivers up to 50% size and weight reduction and 97% efficiency.
The new 2-in-1 generator seamlessly integrates the motor and inverter into a highly compact and scalable solution, making it ideal for all types of electric vehicles, particularly Extended Range Electric Vehicles. This collaboration leverages PanGood’s expertise in axial flux architecture and Valeo’s leadership in inverters, power electronics, and system integration.
Key Features and Benefits:
Compact and Lightweight: The Axial Flux Generator delivers up to 50% size and weight reduction compared to traditional systems, enabling more efficient packaging and integration.
High Efficiency: Achieving up to 97% efficiency in the main usage speed range, the system ensures optimized energy use during the driving cycle.
Simplified System: The direct drive between the internal combustion engine (ICE) and the generator eliminates the need for a reducer, offering a plug-and-play solution with the integrated inverter.
Xavier Dupont, CEO of Valeo Power Division, stated, “Axial Flux is a powerful enabler for smart architectures, especially in EREVs, where maximizing electric range while keeping the system lightweight and compact is a key challenge. This partnership with PanGood allows us to combine the best of motor design and power electronics, for a technically advanced solution ready for global industrialization.”
Henry Han, founder of PanGood, added, “PanGood has focused on the development, design, and production of axial flux motors for over nine years. The most obvious technical advantage of axial flux motors is their compact size and light weight. Collaborating with Valeo, we believe we will achieve great success by providing the best-fitting technical solutions.”
