Tachyum offering 1U and 2U Server/HPC/AI ref designs based on its universal processor

Date: 12/03/2024
Tachyum is providing 1U and 2U platform server rack solutions powered by its universal processor Prodigy for its customers to quickly and easily test, benchmark and deploy Prodigy solutions across a broad range of supported applications and workloads.

Initially Tachyum to sample 2U evaluation platform optimized for high-performance needs of HPC and Big AI in 1st quarter of 2025. Quarter later company to sample its 1U platform designed for applications such as AI inference and a wide range of cloud applications.

Partnering with Chenbro as the chassis partner for Prodigy evaluation platforms, Tachyum ensures seamless integration and unmatched performance. Chenbro's standard chassis products, designed for both 1U and 2U configurations, complement Prodigy's high-performance requirements, allowing Tachyum to focus on device and motherboard development. Both platforms will feature a 2-socket motherboard supporting 32 DDR5 DIMMs and storage integration for 16 E1.S SSDs. Initially, the evaluation platforms will launch as air-cooled infrastructures, with a 4-socket liquid-cooled platform arriving later.

“We’re excited to partner with Tachyum,” says Eric Hui, President of Chenbro. “Our chassis solutions, coupled with Prodigy’s innovation, will drive new standards in AI and HPC.”

“Chenbro’s quality aligns with our mission to revolutionize computing. Together, we’re set to redefine computational boundaries,” said Dr. Radoslav Danilak, founder and CEO of Tachyum. “As we achieve success at the system level, it is imperative that we prepare to progress to conquering other elements of the data center. We are not just a chip company but an innovator in revolutionizing the entire data center for those seeking better performance in hyperscale, cloud and AI environments. We are well positioned to continue on this quest through the creation of advanced motherboard designs complete with all the critical components.”

Company said in its release "Prodigy-powered data center servers can seamlessly and dynamically switch between computational domains (such as AI/ML, HPC, and cloud) with a single homogeneous architecture. By eliminating the need for expensive dedicated AI hardware and dramatically increasing server utilization, Prodigy reduces CAPEX and OPEX significantly while delivering unprecedented data center performance, power, and economics. Prodigy integrates 192 high-performance custom-designed 64-bit compute cores, to deliver up to 4.5x the performance of the highest-performing x86 processors for cloud workloads, up to 3x that of the highest performing GPU for HPC, and 6x for AI applications."
