TDK introduces automotive varistors for LIN and CAN applications

Date: 22/02/2024
TDK expands its automotive varistor portfolio with the introduction of two new models in the AVRH series, catering specifically to LIN and CAN bus systems. These varistors, compliant with the AEC-Q200 standard, offer high ESD withstanding voltage and operate efficiently at temperatures up to 150°C, ensuring the safe operation of critical automotive functions.

Compact Design for LIN: The AVRH10C220YT201MA8 varistor for LIN systems features a miniaturized footprint, with a size 75% smaller than existing models. This compact design not only saves space but also reduces material consumption, aligning with automotive OEMs' efforts towards miniaturization. Additionally, TDK's proprietary coating technology enhances durability, ensuring high reliability for automotive applications.

Integrated Functionality for CAN: The AVRH16A2C270KT200NA8 varistor for CAN systems boasts a 2-in-1 array structure, allowing a single chip to function as two varistors. Moreover, TDK's design technology minimizes the capacitance difference between channels to less than 1.0 pF, ensuring consistent performance. With a compact size of 1608, this varistor optimizes space utilization in automotive electronics.

As automotive OEMs increasingly integrate advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and autonomous driving features, the demand for reliable semiconductor components like varistors continues to rise. TDK's latest additions to the AVRH series address this demand by providing compact, high-performance solutions for LIN and CAN bus applications. With a focus on meeting automotive safety standards and enhancing reliability, TDK reaffirms its commitment to supporting the evolving needs of the automotive industry.
