AI chip monitors vibrations and aid in preventive maintenance of equipments
Monitoring machines and maintaining them is key part of achieving higher productivity. Preventive maintenance reduces downtime of machines. One of the natural observation of machines performance is through monitoring the vibrations and sounds produced by them while they are operating. Any abnormality in both the vibrations and sounds calls for through inspection and maintainance. By carefully observing and studying the various vibration and noise generated by these machines, operators and maintenance people can pinpoint exact location of faulty or erroneous parts or any out of range operation of machines and equipments. While human expertise helps in this regard, with artificial intelligence based analysis coming in, AI based systems can replace human experts in alerting and maintaining of industrial equipments and machines. Though applications not limited to industrial purpose, they can be very well integrated into consumer appliances too. In that sense it's a big market.
To tell you one of the player in this market, There is a fabless company called POLYN Tech which has made available AI-based chip called VibroSense it's basically collects vibration sensor data from sensor nodes. The good thing about this chip is it does AI computing at the edge, instead of depending on the cloud-based vibration data analysis.
POLYN has recently announced application specific Neuromo...
