Taoglas has introduced the MA8020 Raptor X, a railway-certified multi-function antenna platform combining cellular, GNSS and Wi-Fi connectivity for rail applications. It is designed to support train-to-ground links, passenger services and real-time operational systems.

Key features include one multi-band GNSS antenna supporting L1 and L5; up to four 5G/4G cellular antennas covering 600 MHz to 6000 MHz; up to five dual-band Wi-Fi antennas operating across the 2.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz bands; 10-in-1, 8-in-1, 7-in-1 and 4-in-1 configurations; and custom cable lengths and connector options. Its low-profile form factor is intended for restricted-clearance installations, while its MIMO multi-element design supports signal quality and throughput for passenger Wi-Fi and telemetry.

The antenna is EN 50155 certified for mechanical and RF performance. Shock, vibration, thermal, insulation, DC power and EMC testing were completed with no performance degradation. It also complies with EN 45545-2:2020+A1:2023 fire-safety requirements, with relevant components independently tested across R22/R23 external-housing and R24 PCB requirements and fire performance up to Hazard Level 2. The enclosure is IP69K waterproof and IK10 impact-rated, with an operating and storage temperature range of -40°C to +85°C.

Taoglas says integrating the connectivity technologies in one roof-mounted antenna can reduce the number of separate antennas, cable routes and roof penetrations, simplifying installation and maintenance and lowering deployment risk.

David Connolly, global product management director at Taoglas, said: “For rolling-stock manufacturers, the challenge is not simply adding more wireless services; it is integrating cellular, Wi-Fi and GNSS capability within fewer installations while meeting stringent environmental and rail-safety requirements. MA8020 Raptor X gives engineers a configurable, rail-qualified antenna platform designed for those constraints.”

The Taoglas MA8020 Raptor X is available from December through Taoglas and its authorized distributors.
