Bourns Introduces LTCC Band Pass Filters for 5G C-Band RF Front-End Designs

Bourns has introduced three new LTCC band pass filters, the FBP1604N470L3, FBP1608N375L3, and FBP2007N470L3, designed for RF front-end circuits operating in the 5G C-band spectrum. A band pass filter allows signals within a specific frequency range to pass through while blocking everything outside it, and these particular filters are built using LTCC (Low-Temperature Co-fired Ceramic) technology, meaning multiple passive components, the inductors and capacitors that make up a filter circuit, are integrated into a single ceramic structure rather than assembled from discrete parts. That construction helps keep the components small and reliable, which matters in 5G equipment, where RF front-end designs need filtering that fits into tight board layouts while still meeting specific frequency response and signal loss requirements.

Together, the three models cover frequency ranges of 3300 MHz to 4200 MHz and 4400 MHz to 5000 MHz, spanning the portion of spectrum used for 5G C-band deployments. Depending on the specific model, maximum insertion loss, meaning how much of the signal's strength is lost passing through the filter, ranges from 0.9 dB to 1.7 dB at 25°C. The filters are rated to operate across a temperature range of -40°C to +85°C, except for the FBP2007N470L3, which is rated up to +105°C.
