Advanced Energy Introduces 1100 W PFC Module With Industry-Leading Power Density in Half-Brick Form Factor
Advanced Energy Industries, a provider of highly engineered precision power conversion, measurement, and control solutions, has announced a new 1100 W board-mounted power factor correction (PFC) module, described as the industry's first solution of its kind in a half-brick form factor.
The company's new AIH03ZPFC module is built for industrial, medical, defense, and telecommunications applications where size, thermal performance, and efficiency are critical. Featuring a regulated, non-isolated 390 VDC output, the module delivers up to 97.3% peak efficiency, a 2.3% improvement over Advanced Energy's previous-generation PFCs, while increasing power density by 44% to 380 W/in³.
The module includes several features not typically found in half-brick designs, including internal inrush limiting and digital PMBus control and monitoring. Auxiliary power support allows for external housekeeping functions while keeping the module compact, supporting further miniaturization of customer power systems.
David Richmond, Senior Vice President of High Volume Products at Advanced Energy, said the AIH03ZPFC represents a significant advancement in power design, made possible by proprietary AE technology. He said combining 1100 W of power output with extensive integrated functionality allows the module to reduce losses by 46% compared to prior designs, setting new benchm...
