Not only in the personal computing and the smart phone computing platforms, but also in the embedded system development area, there are applications which can leverage 64-bit processor for offering high-performance computing.
The latest 64-bit ARM processor core-based SOC chip, Applied Micro's HeliX 2 family packs a lot of peripherals and other required functions to reduce the external integrated circuits you require in designing 64-bit embedded board. With demand for vision processing increasing in industrial applications, the cost of the motherboards for such applications can be reduced by using HeliX 2 SoCs.
To ease the development effort, Applied Micro has made available a development Kit to support the design of embedded solutions for markets such as networking, storage, industrial, telecommunications and web scale applications. HeliX 2 Development Kit integrates a full software suite with support for all HeliX 2 hardware features.
The technical features of the kit includes:
Mini-ITX board form factor
Quad-core HeliX 2 processor running up to 2.0 GHz
Two DDR3 DIMMS
One PCIe 3.0 (x4) and two PCIe 3.0 (x1)
One SFP+ Ethernet connector to support 10 GbE
Four 1 GbE ports
One SATA 3.0 port
Support for USB 3.0, I2C, SPI, SDIO and UARTs
SMP Linux and full suite of development tools
On-board JTAG connector interfaces to third party tools for run-time...
