InchFab Launches Compact Modular Chip Fabrication Platform for Semiconductor Workforce Training and Development
InchFab has introduced an approximate shipping container-sized complete chip-making system that simplifies training for the semiconductor workforce through its affordability, with the fab costing only a few million US dollars.
The company originated from the PhD work of Mitchell and Parker at MIT. During graduate school, they observed that even leading institutions faced limitations due to costly and outdated fabrication infrastructure. As builders, they developed a faster and more accessible approach to micro and nanoscale device development, resulting in the core technology: an ultra-low-cost, scalable micro-sized fab platform.
InchFab now uses this platform to provide flexible, cost-effective foundry services to customers and partners. Its mission focuses on making micro and nanofabrication accessible by reducing costs and eliminating complexities that hinder development.
The central element is a modular fabrication platform that lowers the requirements for prototyping and producing microfabricated devices.
