ESDM 2013: Compulsory registration of 15 electronics products by March

When the Indian electronics market witnessing huge growth, the local Electronics and System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) companies are looking for world class infrastructure in various stages of product design and manufacturing. One of the important stage is testing and approval for compliance with various standards.

With Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) announcing requirements of compulsory registration of 15 types of IT goods before 6th Mar 2013. Many electronics product OEMS and traders need to get quality certified and registered with BIS to sell the listed 15 products. Some of products include electronic games, mobile/portable computers, flat screen TVs, microwave ovens, and Set Top Boxes. The test facilities recognized by BIS are: Electronic Regional Test Laboratory (North), Electronics Regional Test Laboratory (West), Electronics Test & Development Centre (Bangalore), UL India Pvt Ltd.

Another big test services company TUV Rheinland India also offers extensive product test services.
