SBC for Hi-Rel command and control applications

Cobham announces the GEN 6 LEON 3FT Single Board Computer (SBC) designed for LEO, GEO and Planetary command and control applications. This flight ready TRL-6 based, off-the-shelf SBC is designed with a flexible core architecture to balance power and performance needs.

“Cobham has been a proven HiRel IC and service supplier for over 30 years,” said Paul Armijo, Sr. Director, Systems Development Engineering. “Customers who have been purchasing ICs, and those who have leveraged our Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS), asked if we could provide them a flexible, high performance off-the-shelf SBC. And we did! The customer can now focus their internal resources on their mission-unique sections.”

The GEN 6’s core architecture leverages Cobham’s LEON 3FT Microprocessor Family with the UT700 at 132MHz or the UT699 at 49.5MHz. 95 Drhystone MIPS with a 132MHz system clock and memory options including Cobham’s 64MB SRAM and 32MB Non-Volatile Memory allow our customers to meet a wide variety of performance targets. Three physical interface types on the SBC include cPCI, SpaceWire along with a test and development interface give our customers maximum flexibility for system integration.

“We selected the most compatible microprocessors and memories in designing the “off-the –shelf” GEN 6,” said Elaine Gonsalves, Standard Product Marketing Manager. “We have listened to our customers while designing the SBC to cost effectively meet their requirements.”

“We are maximizing our capabilities and offerings from both EMS and Standard Products to further enable our system solutions for new module and subsystem satellite markets,” continued Armijo. “By leveraging the talent, design and manufacturing capabilities across all of Cobham Semiconductor Solutions, we look forward to introducing more SBCs to meet our customers ever growing demands in the near future.”
