Semiconductor biz gaining ground in Odisha, India

Odisha is fast emerging as friendly and highly supportive state for semiconductor and electronics business joining the race to attract global investment to India. On 2nd Nov 2023, Government of Odisha hosted an event called Odisha4Silicon-2023, in an effort to build a robust semiconductor eco in the state. In the month of July 2023, Odisha Cabinet had approved Odisha semiconductor manufacturing and fabless policy to facilitate investors to enter into manufacturing of Semiconductor devices in Odisha.
Odisha had approved investment proposal of discrete power semiconductor manufacturer RIR Power Electronics to set up SiC semiconductor fab with initial investment of Rs. 510.80 Crore.
Leading EDA vendor Synopsys opened its new office in Bhubaneswar on 10th Nov 2023 after it inked a MoU with Government of Odisha at Odisha4Silicon-2023 event. Synopsys to work closely with Government of Odisha in areas such as the O-Chip programme, talent transformation, workforce development, readiness assessment of the state, and internship and placement assistance to students of engineering institutions.
