WIT’s RCS and WebRTC server platforms with Radisys’ MediaEngine

Date: 23/05/2015
Radisys and WIT Software have partnered to help mobile operators to offer VoLTE, Rich Communications Services (RCS) and WebRTC. WIT Software’s RCS and WebRTC application server platforms with Radisys’ MediaEngine portfolio of MRF products are offered for transcoding web to native VoLTE voice and video calling. The joint solution is undergoing trial deployments with tier-one mobile operators in Asia.

WebRTC and RCS is gaining importance, Market researcher ABI Research estimated 4.7B mobile WebRTC devices by 2018 and the global RCS market to grow from $596.3M in 2013 to $5.75B in 2019, as per Marketsandmarkets.

“WIT Software provides a comprehensive end-to-end RCS solution, but we needed robust and scalable media processing and transcoding capabilities that would allow mobile operators to extend and interwork their existing 3G service offerings to the web with VoLTE, RCS and WebRTC services,” said Luis Silva, CEO, WIT Software. “Radisys’ MediaEngine products allow us to offer our customers a complete, deployment-ready solution that enables interactive communications across legacy and next-generation endpoint technology.”

“This important partnership with WIT Software extends our WebRTC and RCS ecosystem and helps create another end-to-end solution that mobile operators can seamlessly deploy today when they embrace our OneMRF strategy,” said Grant Henderson, vice president, MediaEngine and corporate marketing, Radisys. “Mobile operators need a real-time transcoding solution that can tear down interoperability barriers present between WebRTC, VoLTE and 3G endpoints, enabling advanced communication services to be delivered broadly and ubiquitously, irrespective of the endpoint/terminal. WIT Software is one of the most experienced companies in RCS, and the early traction and excitement we’ve seen in Asia for this integrated solution further validates this partnership.”
