FPGA leader Xilinx invests in MCU maker XMOS

XMOS said it has received investment from world's top FPGA vendor Xilinx. XMOS said it also received investment from Robert Bosch Venture Capital GmbH of Germany, Huawei Technologies. The total investment from all these companies is $26.2m, as per XMOS release.

Nigel Toon, CEO at XMOS said “Each of these important new partners will bring major strategic value alongside their significant financial investment in the business. This will help us in our mission to build XMOS into a major fabless semiconductor company.”

The investment from a MEMS sensor, Telecommunication, and programmable silicon companies into a MCU semiconductor maker XMOS indicates, quite a good mix of strategic group formation for the fast emerging markets such as m2m and IoT.

With this investment, Dr. Hongquan Jiang from Robert Bosch is said to be joining the XMOS Board of Directors.
