Analog Devices to acquire microwave component maker Hittite

Analog Devices to acquire microwave and RF component maker Hittite for US$78 per share in cash, which is around approximately US$2 billion.

The precision and high margin focused Analog Devices has disinvested in MEMS and giving lesser importance to low end commoditized analog ICs and now with this planned acquisition, ADI is including more RF components in its product portfolio which connect to its own RF and signal conversion semiconductor ICs, which together offered to designers of cellular and microwave communications infrastructure, automotive, industrial instrumentation, aerospace and defense electronics.
