Date: 03/09/2013
The electronics and embedded systems industry is estimating a very optimistic growth in Internet of Things (IoT) which is going to be lot more bigger than the Internet (of computers alone). The leading embedding computer maker Advantech is taking early start in this market. In the recently held event called “Advantech Embedded Design-In Forum” in Bangalore, Hyderabad, Pune and Delhi, Darren Chen, Country Manager, Advantech said “Internet of Things (IoT) will be a game changer in everyday technology. We believe the time of IoT has come. According to the Forrester Research prediction, the global revenues from IoT will be thirty times higher than the Internet”.
“Many Governments, including the United States, European Union, Japan, South Korea, and mainland China have made huge investments in IoT to encourage its development. Besides, CCID consulting also forecast that IoT revenues will reach 750 billion RMB by 2015. In India also, the growth due to IoT is likely to be exponential in the coming 2 to 3 years,” said Darren Chan.

Advantech shared the market analysis data on IoT from IDC, which says "billions of new users and billions more machines will drive the intelligent systems market to over 5 billion units and nearly $2.4 trillion in revenue by 2017. Embedded Computing is the core technology to enable intelligent devices, intelligent systems, intelligent services, intelligent cities and this intelligent planet."

Talking about the latest innovation at Advantech, Darren Chen said , “Advantech will play a leading role in the IoT era by providing comprehensive system solutions. Our rich experience and proven capability will help us to supply various systems of embedded connectivity and value-added solutions and services. We will upgrade our software functions from network management to cloud service enabling applications and enhance secured interconnection through a standard industrial interface and built-in intelligence-enabled devices. Advantech will be an innovator and enabler in the intelligent planet era via our services and support to our customers. We will create more intelligent lifestyle choices and become the leading solution provider of IoT in the intelligent Planet”.

Advantech Industrial Cloud Services is also making its SUSI-Access cloud software available on all its embedded platforms. This allows system integrators to centralize monitoring and management of remote embedded devices in real time. The cloud-based application is free for customers and centralizes monitoring of all remote embedded devices. It collects all device data and provides logs for remote management. When errors occur it auto-notifies the system administrator via warning opups and email alerts. If there’s a major failure the applications automatically reboots to run diagnostics and deploy system recovery procedures.

The market for Advantech’s products in India is already growing between 40-50% and the company has done more revenues in Jan-June this year than last year. Advantech aims to grow by around 7-10 times current revenues by 2018, which also shows the potential of the industry, added Darren Chen.

Advantech Design-in Forum” is an annual premier event in the embedded industry, allowing the world’s brightest embedded developers to learn from the most experienced technology leaders and top engineers from around the world. Globally Advantech has been hosting it for the last 20 years and this is the first time Advantech organized Embedded Design-in Forum in India.

Advantech Design-In Forum was organized in the four cities of Bangalore, Hyderabad, Pune and Delhi saw participation from over 500 attendees from diverse industries like technology, medical equipments, defense, aerospace, machine & factory automation and security & surveillance.

The theme of the forum was technology, trends & innovation for Embedded Developers. The event was co-hosted by Intel, Microsoft & McAfee.
