Marvell's semiconductor innovations in
India targets broadband connected smart gadgets
Fables semiconductor device maker Marvell has started its
operations in India on May 2006 with corporate office in
Bangalore and additional offices in Pune and Hyderabad.
The total staff count stands at 250. Marvell India has filed
25 patents and 40 plus in pipeline. Marvell processors are
used in mobile, wireless, consumer and storage devices.
Through partnership with Indian semiconductor R&D outsourcers
such as Mindtree, Marvell is trying to deliver total product
solutions for storage, communications and media processing.
In India, there is enormous potential in areas such as
broadband, IPTV and 3G-enabled services. Marvell is focusing
on a local ecosystem to develop world-class communication
equipment and solutions for global markets.
Marvell is promoting its Qdeo technology and its ARM core
based ARMADA processors in the Indian market. They are designed
to provide HD audio and video in the technology converged
mobile and home entertainment devices such as cable and
satellite receivers, DVD, Blu-ray, portable media players,
smart phones, smartbooks, consumer and embedded devices,
and displays. The ARMADA processors offer CPU cores with
PC-class performance.
