Texas Instruments has announced that Dr. Biswadip (Bobby) Mitra has been elected president and managing director of TI India. In his new role, Dr. Mitra will lead all of TI's research and development, sales and marketing activities in India.

"Bobby has been instrumental in expanding TI's presence in India since its inception. He has been leading its research and development activities with innovative world-class products for our global customers, as well as leading our focus on India as a semiconductor growth market for TI. He has also been a key driving force for the creation of the India semiconductor and electronics industry ecosystem, and establishing TI's partnership with over 700 local universities," said Greg Delagi, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Wireless Terminals Business Unit, Texas Instruments. "I am confident that Bobby's global experience and deep understanding of customers' needs will be a vital asset in continuing to grow TI's presence in India, particularly regarding TI's Analog and Embedded Processing innovation, and India market leadership."

Dr. Mitra joined TI 23 years ago and most recently served as director of the Americas wireless communication product development activities at Texas Instruments Incorporated, Dallas. While in this role, he also led TI's ultra-low power DSP core.

Dr. Mitra holds a B.Tech in Electronics and Electrical Communication Engineering and a Ph.D in Computer Science and Engineering, both from IIT Kharagpur. He also holds an Executive Masters of Business Administration from The University of Texas at Austin.

Dr. Mitra has deep sense of Indian semiconductor market rhythm and is very actively involved in promoting the semiconductor and electronic manufacturing industry in India.
