NXP launches 1x1.4 mm DC/DC step down converter operating at 6 MHz

Date: 29/01/2013
NXP Semiconductors has launched DC/DC buck converter in a small WLCSP6 package size measuring 1.0 x 1.4 mm for battery-driven portable devices. The DC6M4/5/6 series operates at switching frequency of 6 MHz, where inductors of small size and inductance value down to 470 nH can be used to save board space.

The other features and specifications include Ultra-low output voltage ripple of 7 mV (typ), Input voltage range 2.3 V - 5.5 V, Available with output currents of 425, 500, 650 mA, Low quiescent current in shutdown: 0.2 ľA (typ), Inrush, short circuit & temperature protection. Available with Auto/PWM Mode select, Output Voltage Select or Power good/XSHUTDOWN options.

Key applications suggested: Several functions and interfaces e.g. camera, GPS, Wi-Fi, SD-card, Bluetooth and audio require lower than battery supply voltages in mobile appliances such as: Mobile phones, Media player, PC tablets, DSCs (Digital Still Cameras), Video cameras, Game pads, Notebooks, netbooks and ultrabooks.
