CEA-Leti researching on enhancing vehicle driving automation through V2X

There is significant digital infrastructure such as GPS, Wi-Fi, 4G/5G wireless networks, and billions of wireless devices in the form of smart phones, automotive electronics and many such ubiquituos networked digital systems all around. It is smarter to leverage fixed as well as mobile digital systems for autonomous driving systems. In today's world most of the people carry a wireless device in the form of mobile phone/smart phone. Self driving automotive can nearly assume the wireless device is an obstacle which it should avoid crashing. In line with this thinking, semiconductor and electronics focused research organisation CEA-Leti announced a new R&D initiative to contribute to a higher level of vehicle automation and cooperation by expanding the latest developments in vehicular wireless communications that improve reaction time, pedestrian detection and overall vehicle performance. The researchers are CEA-Leti focusing on evaluating and demonstrating connected and cooperative vehicular systems to improve automation and help ensure the safety of vulnerable road users, such as pedestrians, workers and cyclists. CEA-Leti scientists have consolidated the institute's expertise in vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communication technologies and standards after participating in three EU H2020 projects. The H2020 studies included integrating a dedicated simulation flow for syste...
