Semiconductor eco growth in 2021, chips; 26%, equipment;42%, material;15%

Semiconductor industry Association had reported a record semiconductor chip revenue of US$ 555.9 billion in year 2021, a growth of 26.2% compared to 2020. The forecast for 2022 is a growth of 8.8%. This covid, remote working, and Electric Vehicle driven growth has triggered the overall growth of semiconductor supply chain. The semiconductor equipment market which is directly dependent on semiconductor chip market growth, grows exponentially and falls exponentially in response to the linear growth of chip market. The semiconductor equipment industry body SEMI says Global fab equipment spending for front-end facilities is expected to jump 18% year-over-year (YOY) to an all-time high of US$107 billion in 2022, marking a third consecutive year of growth following a 42% surge in 2021. “Crossing the $100 billion mark in spending on global fab equipment for the first time is a historic milestone for the semiconductor industry,” said Ajit Manocha, president and CEO of SEMI. “This significant achievement is a tribute to the relentless drive to add and upgrade capacity to address a diverse range of markets and emerging applications, solidifying expectations for long-term industry growth to enable electronics for the digital world.” “Global fab equipment spending is forecast to have another healthy year in 2023 and is expected to remain above the $100 billion mark,” said Sanj...
