Robust growth for GPON, VDSL, Cable CMTS, and EPON equipments

Dell'Oro Group has reported that revenues from Access equipment that enables operators to deliver new revenue-generating, bandwidth intensive services to subscribers are forecast to have the highest growth rates over the next five years. The report indicates that the sales growth over the next five years will be the most robust for GPON equipment, followed by VDSL, Cable CMTS, and then EPON.

"We expect China to continue to be a major market driver for both EPON and GPON over the next five years, and have increased our annual PON revenue forecast relative to our previous forecast largely due to higher demand projections for China," said Tam Dell'Oro, Founder of Dell'Oro Group. "We also believe that GPON will be the PON technology of choice for operators outside of Asia as well as many within Asia, and we expect the number and size of GPON deployments to increase over the next several years, aided in part by various governments' broadband incentive programs," added Dell'Oro.

The report also indicates that the total Access market revenue is forecast to grow in the low single digits this year, after an 11 percent decline in 2009.
