Flexible automotive 3-phase gate driver from ST with lots of safety features
STMicroelectronics announced availability of integrated automotive three-phase gate driver unit (GDU) L9908 powered by 12V, 24V, or 48V systems and offer flexible input and output channels making it suitable for motor control of traction and non-traction motors in both gasoline driven, electric driven and hybrid vehicles.
Automotive motor control engineers get the freedom to configure the output channels independently to drive different types of loads by having exclusive source connections to the high-side and low-side FETs of each half bridge. Six separate PWM (pulse-width modulation) input pins allows setting it to run different motors.
Three differential current monitors for ground-referenced measurements and three channels for real-time phase-voltage monitoring and a set of diagnostic and protection features helps in achieving high accuracy.
L9908 is suggested for non-traction motor control such as low voltage fluid pumps, pumps and blowers in ventilation and cooling systems, and electronic seat controls. L9908 is also eligible for traction inverters for mild-hybrid vehicles and 48V full-electric city cars.
ISO 26262 requirement fulfilling safety features such as built-in diagnostics in AEC-Q100 qualified L9908 making it a choice for autonomous emergency braking (AEB) and advanced electronic power steering (EPS).
L9908 is loaded with ample set of safety featu...
