BorgWarner expands in India and appoints Sailaja Shankar to its BoD

Automotive supplier BorgWarner has opened a new plant near Chennai under BorgWarner Morse Systems India. The new facility to make Internal Combustion (IC) engine timing components for all range of vehicles.

While continuing to supply automotive components to IC engine market, BorgWarner is heavily focusing on electric vehicle opportunities and is already rooted in the market by having a business plan called "Charging Forward". In an interview R. Murali, manager at BorgWarner Morse had said " BorgWarner to make 45 percent of its revenue through electric vehicle products by 2030."

In this month of September 2022 BorgWarner named Indian born Sailaja Shankar to its Board of Directors.

Michas, non-executive chairman of the board of BorgWarner. “Sailaja’s breadth of leadership experience through strategic change in large enterprise organizations, coupled with her digital, cybersecurity, software, and software applications knowledge make her a strong complement to our board as our product line continues to evolve and we deliver on Charging Forward.”

Ms. Shankar is the Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Cisco Security Business Group, Prior to Cisco, she was Senior Vice President of Engineering, Enterprise at McAfee.

Ms. Shankar holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Maris Stella College, and a Bachelor’s and Master of Arts from Andhra University in Mass Communications/Journalism and English Literature.
